Testimonials

  • “Marjorie Weisskohl is one of the best public affairs professionals around. She is skillful, smart, thoughtful, and passionate about the issues that she focuses on, including environmental science and technology as well as STEM education. She is an outstanding writer, editor, and communications professional who approaches her work with the highest level of honesty and integrity, both in government and in the private sector.

I have been pleased to know Marjorie for more than a decade, ever since she was a public affairs specialist at the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and I was the senior staff writer for Eos at the American Geophysical Union. When I interacted with Marjorie in her capacity managing public affairs for the bureau’s environmental program, I knew I was working with a real pro who knows her stuff inside out, who represents her clients very well, who strives to inform people about the relevance of environmental science and technologies to their lives, and who has been extraordinarily helpful to me and absolutely trustworthy at the same time. It is my pleasure to continue to be a colleague of Marjorie, who is somebody I greatly respect and admire, and who consistently provides excellent and sound communications advice.”

  • “Marjorie has been a very engaged member of the Public Relations Society of America's National Capital Chapter (PRSA NCC) for a dozen years. This includes her time as a vital volunteer member of the chapter's Sponsorship Committee. I know I can count on Marjorie to bring new ideas to the table for our sponsors, and I have been impressed with her passion for ensuring our chapter sponsors receive strong value from their benefits package. As part of her committee role, Marjorie has served as the committee's liaison for planning multiple sponsor events and has demonstrated a strong project management skill set and willingness to mentor new members. She is always dedicated to ensuring every aspect of the event is a success for the sponsor. Any organization would be fortunate to have Marjorie as part of their team.”

-Myles Goldman - PRSA NCC Sponsorship Committee Chair, 2021 and 2022

  • “I am pleased to provide a testimonial to the professional capabilities of Marjorie Weisskohl, with whom I had the pleasure of working for eight years at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, U.S. Department of the Interior. At the time, I developed and implemented large offshore environmental study contracts for the deep ocean environment to inform decisions on offshore energy development. We shared the belief that for government contract awards, public communications are vital for government transparency of federal tax-supported research targeted at environmental protection.

Marjorie created thoughtful communication plans prior to the launch of my studies, including two with interagency budgets of $9 million each. Strategic public affairs planning before, during and after contract awards proved extremely valuable to the success of these studies.

Her self-motivated actions included reaching out to and coordinating with study partners at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to create comprehensive press packages, including far-reaching potential questions and answers. Her collaborative editorial input and advice for several videos, including the Pathways to the Abyss study of submerged canyons in the Atlantic, earned her a place on the group National Oceanographic Partnership Excellence in Partnering Award for 2015. The project received extensive media coverage as well.”

  • “Marjorie has been a valuable asset for the Guthrie Center here in Great Barrington, MA. Since late 2022, she has helped us with our strategic planning in so many ways, expanding the visibility of the Guthrie Center’s activities after the worst of the pandemic. One of our priorities for 2023 was to generate attendance and media coverage for the Clan Guthrie Family Gathering, a benefit fundraiser for the Guthrie Center. She took the time to interview Clan Guthrie leaders and reach out to local media, helping us to attract about 100 attendees from around the country to celebrate Scottish and Scottish-American heritage. We were delighted to see Berkshire media at the gathering, as well as folks from the local community who signed up after learning about the event. The video Marjorie created afterwards helped us reach others from around the country who were unable to join us.

For our summer Troubadour concert series, running from Memorial Day weekend through September, and the Black Legacy Project, her media outreach and social media posts helped us double our ticket sales, selling out for most concerts. We and the entertainers, especially the regional talent, truly appreciated her efforts. We look forward to working with Marjorie as we continue to expand new program ideas to meet the mission of the Guthrie Center.”
