An Ode to 2022

Ring out the old, ring in the new, t’was a split screen in 2022.

Looking back over the year, full of Ying Yang, we look ahead with a prayer.

A prayer for peace, good health and happiness, some prosperity, too, to help meet the tests.

February saw Russia invade Ukraine, but with heart and grit Kyiv overcame. War still rages in December, but Zelensky speech to Congress we all will remember.

In March, U.S. Covid cases neared July 2021’s, boosters available for (almost) everyone. Spikes in the summer, and more in December, sadly Covid will be one to remember.

On Earth Day in April, Downy Yellow Violets bloom, other flowers will be showing up soon. The Climate Change Mitigation Report compares pledges and goals, for Greenhouse Gases, how do we gain control?

In May to St. Michael’s on the Chesapeake Bay, a harbor tour to escape for the day. Harriet Tubman lived there, showing others the way. Oysters, oysters, where did you go? New regulations help you to grow.

At Hudson School home of Thomas Cole in June, gardens are covered in bloom. The heat at Delaware Prime Hook made everyone swoon.

July in my garden, growing veggies and flowers, working outside fills arduous hours.

August in Maine seeing lighthouses and yachts, though an owner I’m not.

September’s garden at home and time for a rest, fall foliage will be the best.

In October barns opened their doors, Winnakee Land Trust supported the tour, family farms, conservation and more.

In November Egypt hosted COP27 on climate change, world leaders sough actions across a broad range. Thanksgiving connected future with past, I met Guthrie Center folks for some stories to draft.
